Research on book bios

Your book bio is to sell. Think of it like a party flyer, our promo card. It speaks about who you are, what you offer and why should you and your books matter. A good intro of who you are is to start broad and go narrow, grab them with a hook. Then step number 2 is what you offer, what are you selling, your book, explain it how you wish. What inspired you to write it? What is it about? Explain how you need too.  Step number 3 is the road that got you here not too much, but be genuine. "People by the dreamer, before they buy the dream". people buy your offers by sharing your humanness, if they read this far down they want details to be engaged into which ways they can take up your offer always put your website, your Facebook, your Instagram on your author page your about me is placed everywhere your book is selling . Its your first story which readers get a glimpse of your style. Remember when you're writing it, Start with the hook, add the dream and then the journey, tell your story to convey Passion, background does not have to be in the writing, convey Passion how can people support your dream or follow your journey. It doesn't have to be written in 1st person but 3rd person is for formal format. Create your bio for selling, be genuine people don't care master degrees. Just the story, build a brand, built around your creativity.

Fourth attempt at writing an about the author

How do you achieve your dreams? Hard work and determination to think "that happens all the time". My dream was to publish my first children's book I've always loved writing and it has lead my life in many directions so I'm glad I finally get to share this with everyone .
As a child I grew up with my grandparents and parents out on the carnival we always had a Hometown in between traveling where my mom would raise us on the week days then on the weekends we traveled to the carnival which just as much home because it was our grampa's  and gramma house, and where we grew up. So coming from a rural mountain town in California I guess you could say our life was pretty adventurous. when I was 13 my parents started a pizza place in Clear Lake where we grew up working with them. After I graduated from high school I left to Nashville for a few years to try my hand at songwriting. That's where I learned the art of pursuing your dreams while working for your means. My road has led me back to Shasta Lake California where I operate a small pizza place in our family and work closely with our local historical society creating a "dam museum". In the midst of all of that at work I decided to write this Cali the Carny book. I'm inspired by the stories and memories of the carnival. I hope and intend to turn this book into an adventure book series for children. I started because I couldn't find a carnival stories to share with my nieces and I thought our old lifestyle and adventures were amazing and fun. My childhood was truly magical thanks to my parents, grandparents, older brothers, and carnival family so here is to them may we enjoy the ride.

Third attempt at writing an about the author.

I was born and raised on the carnival with my lovely family . I believe my first job was ripping tickets and my paychecks consisted of cotton candy and stuffed animals . My grandparents Cecil and Anita and my parents Chris and Tina Worked out on the carnival . They taught me with hard work and determination anything is possible . I started writing these books because I wish to share with my friends and family the joy of being part of the carnival family. I also wanted a way to introduce to my growing family my grandparents and parents lifestyle. My gramma and grampa have both inspired me in unexplainable ways and through this book I hope their joyful legacy can live on. May you learn to adventure and enjoy the journey. Live life without any what if's.

Second attempt at about the author.

Growing up on a carnival one would save that life was pretty magical and also a lot of hard work . My grandparents Cecil and Anita managed a carnival unit and my parents Chris and Tina owned a food wagon they use to take us everywhere with them on the road. We settled down in a rural town in northern California where me and my brother went to school then on weekends our parents would take us to the carnival to visit with our family and stay with grandparents. Where we got to have childhood advneture on carnival lots.
After graduating high school I decided to move to Nashville Tennessee to pursue the dream of being a songwriter, I learnlearned a lot in Nashville. I learned with hardwork and determination, you can make your dreams a reality, "it happens all the time." After living in Nashville for a few years I moved to Shasta Lake to operate a pizza place in our family business, I also work closely with our historical society designing a "dam museum ". Meanwhile I was inspired to write this Cali the Carny story after many years of trial and error I get the honor of introducing Cali the Carny to you. May we enjoy together, enjoy the ride.

First attempt at about the author.

So with writing a children's book I had to write and about me I'm finding it a little bit difficult because I don't really know what to say . Here is my 1st rough draft of my about the author.
Wright Rhodes was born into the carnival lifestyle her family ran a food establishment while her grandparents managed a carnival unit . Rhodes' family settled into a small mountain town in northern California where the family opened a pizza business. Rhodes grew up working side-by-side with her family and learning anything is possible. After graduating high school rhodes moved to Nashville to pursue songwriting there she learned the art of words and determination, chasing your dreams to reach success and this book Cali The Carny is her dream. "to be able to share family stories and memories. I tell you my carnival lifestyle really made my childhood amazing and I had the weirdest imagination which I hope to translate through these children stories." says Wright Rhodes, the author "this is my first published book but I couldn't be more excited to share the joy of Cali the Carny with you all."

Building a brand #1

When publishing a book series you're building a brand and it seems that a brand is built upon the  books and author. So that means I have to be an author, and truth be told I completely have the fake it till you make it mentality . When building a brand you are marketing your books, a brand speaks volumes. It's designing and redesigning your books to leave an unforgetable mark. A brand brings people back to your books without needing to market again, a brand leaves a legacy, a brand leaves a memory.

How to write a children's book.

Steps on how to create a children's book for me it started with my childhood memories, so I got pretty lucky but for others it's just going to be what inspires you. Something that inspired you yesterday can be just as inspiring as something that inspired you 10 years ago . My childhood memories inspired me to write Cali the carny, I grew up out on the carnival with my grandparents and my parents so to be inspired for me was rather easy. My stories come from a unique, genuine, fun loving point of view and place . I had a hard time deciding how my story was going to be written who was going to be the voice? Was it gonna be a 3rd person or 1st person narrative and I focused on Cali being the narrator of her adventures on the carnival. She has such a child like point of view such an innocent way of looking at the world and that is how I wished it to be . After I had my idea a book didn't just fly out of my mind. I had to brainstorm and I brainstormed a lot of different ideas, a lot of different titles, a lot of different memories. I kind of settled on the first book as one that introduces the carnival and the carnival lifestyle and the way of life. The words, also adding in some words that we use out on the carnival that aren't typical in your everyday conversation. so I had to introduce those words in the first book . Even after I settled on an idea for the first book it didn't just come pouring out onto the page. I still brainstormed how did I want it to go? what did I wanted to say and I actually fell into the rhyming pattern. I really really wanted this one to rhyme and there were certain points of view and things that I wanted to say which I luckily tied them all into my first Cali the Carny book . I have about 5 copies of my firat rough draft of Cali the Carny, I re-read it time after time, and I wasn't happy so I rewrote it and then I re wrote it 4 more times in this process. I'm going to say that took about 4 months because just in between reading it I had to set it down and let the work sit there until the project until I could be creative enough to finish the project. Finally I edited it into the version that I wanted to publish and I looked for illustrators. I thought this was gonna be the easiest part, you just gotta find somebody that could draw . Turns out that that's not exactly how it is, you have to find somebody that draws the style that you wish to see your book in and for me because it's a carnival and I love my characters I had to find somebody that could draw and like a caricature style. After year and a half of up's and down's and going through 4 different illustrators, I found the perfect illustrator in Sean Mooney. I can't imagine doing this project with anybody else and I'm really excited at what 2018 has in store for the Cali the Carny book . Sean and I are working on a collaboration agreement and hes working on the rough sketches for Cali the Carny. we hope to have a rough sketched completed by may 2018 and our first Cali the Carny book published before Christmas of 2018 . It's  definitely been a long hard road that led to here, lots of work, lots of creativity and imagination, lots of the networking and determination, and there is still a long hard road ahead of us. Together we will enjoy it, so enjoy the Ride.
